•Proceeds from the 2025 Minnewaska Rotary event to help six area city projects

Tickets are going fast for Minnewaska Rotary Club’s second annual CASH BASH, the  fundraising event set for April 5 at the Minnewaska House.  Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and by the time the evening ends (8:30 p.m.), one lucky winner will take home $6,000 in cash.

With only 200 raffle tickets available, participants have the opportunity to win over $10,000 in cash prizes, including that $6,000 grand prize. Funds raised will primarily be distributed to local improvement initiatives while also contributing to the prize pool. Tickets can be purchased at the Pope County Tribune or through Rotary members.

Jennie Stone, leader of the Minnewaska Rotary CASH BASH Committee, said the event helped five Pope County cities do projects in 2024 when the first Cash Bash event returned about $3,300 to each of the cities.  This year, she said, the event has attracted six proposals from cities in the county.  Committee member Mike Pfeiffer emphasized the importance of these projects, stating that the proceeds will be instrumental in completing them.

Rotary’s CASH BASH committee announced last week that proceeds from this year’s CASH BASH event will support community projects across six cities in Pope County. Below is a breakdown of the projects that will receive funding:

City of Long Beach – Reflecting Benches: Installation of four benches at Morning Glory Gardens and the new Long Beach Community Hub.

City of Glenwood – Downstage Theatre Restoration: Help with the restoration efforts for the former Downstage Theatre at Central Square, including flooring, wall repairs, and painting, to provide a space for youth programming and community events.

City of Sedan – City Park Project: Help with continued improvements to Sedan City Park, including a jungle gym, swings, a flagpole, benches, and a basketball court.

City of Lowry – City Park Restoration: Continued upgrades and restoration of Lowry’s city park.

City of Villard – City Sign Replacement: Replacement of the city sign on the north side of Villard.

City of Starbuck – Pickleball and Tennis Courts: Help with the conversion of old tennis courts at Lakeshore Park into new pickleball and tennis courts, along with renovations to park buildings.

The CASH BASH proceeds will serve as a key financial boost to these projects.  Rotary members encourage community participation in purchasing raffle tickets and/or provide a sponsorship to support the county-wide fundraiser.
