Minnewaska Area Schools (MAS) is once again hosting the Day of Caring event and is inviting MAS District residents to participate in what will now be the 7th Annual Day of Caring.

“This event will take place on Wednesday, May 7 and is a cherished tradition within our community that embodies the spirit of service and collaboration that defines our school’s values,” said Chip Rankin, Superintendent of MAS..

“The Day of Caring presents a wonderful opportunity for MAS students and staff to join hands and make meaningful contributions to our communities,” Rankin added.

Projects may include tasks such as washing outside windows on the ground floor (no ladders), yard work like raking and gardening, and other similar outdoor activities. Anyone who has a project in mind that you would like our volunteers to undertake, we kindly ask you to complete the registration form.  The form can be found online or on Page 5A of this issue.

Providing detailed information about your project will assist our volunteers in understanding the requirements and estimated duration.

Once your registration form is submitted and your project is accepted, a team comprising MAS students and adult volunteers will be dispatched to your site between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on the designated Day of Caring. Please email your completed forms to dayofcaring@isd2149.org.

For any further inquiries or assistance, contact Katy Leppa at dayofcaring@isd2149.org or at (320) 239-4820 and press 6 or Sarah Suchy at (320) 239-4800 ext. 1513 or email Minnewaska Area Schools at dayofcaring@isd2149.org. Rain or shine, our volunteers are committed to working on projects, ensuring that the spirit of caring prevails. In the unlikely event of severe weather, cancellation information will be communicated through local radio stations or our school website: https://www.minnewaska.k12.mn.us/

To ensure your project’s consideration, we request that registration forms be submitted no later than Wednesday, 30.

“We are eagerly looking forward to this opportunity to give back to our community and express our gratitude for the unwavering support you have shown Minnewaska Area Schools. Encouraging an “attitude of gratitude” and fostering genuine appreciation are values deeply rooted in our educational mission, and the Day of Caring serves as a tangible manifestation of these principles,” Rankin stated.

Students will also be working in public areas, like parks and beaches all over the district on the Day of Caring.
