The Minnewaska Area track teams won their second-straight meet last week, winning the 8-team Litchfield Invitational, Thursday afternoon.

The Laker girls, who had five champions, had 143.5 total points to beat Annandale (117.5 points) and EV-Watkins (116.5) for first, while the boys team had four titles on the way to totaling 135 points to edge Annandale (112 points) and Litchfield (105.5) for first.

The Lakers were also set to compete at Morris Area last Tuesday, but that meet was canceled due to weather.

This week, Minnewaska Area is set to host the first Invitational at home, Tuesday (tomorrow).

“It was a great start to the outdoor season for both the boys and girls programs tonight,” said boys’ coach Zach Traphagen.  “We have a nice blend of veteran athletes mixed in with some younger, less experienced kids who are showing good potential. There were lots of great performances tonight, but plenty of room for improvement as well.”
