About 30 area youth participated in Pope County 4-H’s annual Adventure Day held at Minnewaska Area High School on Saturday, April 9.
Youth in kindergarten through fifth grade choose a session for the morning, Creative Creations, Walk on the Wildside, or Explore Science and spent 3 hours learning about these engaging project areas. In the different sessions, youth made bird houses, created gnomes, built and tested the strength of bridges, participated in a nature walk, painted eggs, explored the science of hovercrafts, weaved bracelets, experimented with Elephant Toothpaste, and more. Sessions were led by 4-H youth leaders and adult volunteers. All youth that participate in Adventure Day are able to display their projects in the 4-H Building at the Pope County Fair, August 3-6.
Adventure Day is sponsored by the University of Minnesota Extension and Pope County 4-H Youth Development Program. Birdhouse materials were donated by HillTop Lumber.
