Girls win, boys 3rd at Sauk Centre Invite

The Minnewaska Track & Field team managed to get in one meet last week with a trip to Sauk Centre on Thursday.
The Minnewaska girls performed well, easily winning the meet by a comfortable margin over second-place Paynesville.
The Lakers’ boys took third place, just edged out by Montevideo for second place. Sauk Centre took first place.
The girls’ relay teams had a big day, winning three of the four relays and taking second in the other.
The 4 x 100 Minnewaska relay was ran by Alannah Christensen, Mya Lindemann, Emma Kovarik and Emily Kaiser.
The 4 x 400 relay team was made up of Teagan Stark, Lauryn Ankeny, Olivia Danielson and McKenzie Luetmer.
The 4 x 800 team was ran by McKenzie Luetmer, Teagan Stark, Lauryn Ankeny and Olivia Danielson.
The Lakers’ girls also won six of the seven races, with Emily Kaiser winning the 100, McKenzie Luetmer taking the 400, Olivia Danielson taking first in the 800, Lauryn Ankeny winning the 1600 and Kiearra Wilmes finishing in the top spot in the 3200.
The boys’ team won two relays, the 4 x 100, ran by Gage Rogers, Jacob Lien, Isaac Meyer and DeShon Boyd, and the 4 x 800, with Noah Danielson, Jayce Kovarik, Nick Ankeny and Maeson Tank breaking the tape first.
The boys won two races, the 100 by DeShon Boyd and Maeson Tank taking the 1600.
On Tuesday the Lakers host an invitational, with teams from Ashby/Brandon-Evansville, Eden Valley-Watkins, Melrose, New London Spicer, Sauk Centre, Upsala and West Central Area set to compete. On Thursday Minnewaska will be at New London-Spicer for an invitational meet.
