The VFW Auxiliary to Starbuck Post 4582 held their regular meeting on Monday, May 9, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the meeting room of the VFW with Sr. Vice President Karen Tharaldson presiding. The Chaplain offered the opening prayer and the pledge to the flag was given. The roll call of officers found 11 present and three absent with 13 total members present. Belinda Sanders attended the meeting as a guest and presided over the installation of officers following the meeting. The secretary’s report was read and approved. The treasurer’s report was read and filed subject to audit.

Information noted: The next Auxiliary Meeting will be held on June 13th, 2022 at 2 pm.

A thank you letter in honor of Volunteer week from the Minnewaska Lutheran Home was read. Members were encouraged to contact their Senators in support of HR 3967, Honoring Our PACT Act. This bill addresses health care related to veterans who were exposed to toxic substances during military service. This bill was passed in the House on 3/3/22 and is now awaiting a vote in the Senate.

Unfinished business: The consensus of the members present determined not to serve a lunch following the Memorial Day Service this year.

New business: Vicki Aaberg moved to pay the bills. Bonnie Haugen seconded the motion and the motion carried. 

Ruby Aaberg moved to donate five of the quilts made by the Immanuel Lutheran Church Quilting group to the Eagles Healing Nest and five to the Veterans’ Hospital in St. Cloud. Carol Holtan seconded the motion and the motion carried. They will begin their duties on July 1, 2022.

Vicki Aaberg’s name was drawn for the quarter drawing and Kathryn Becker’s name was drawn for the door prize of $5. She was not in attendance.

The meeting was closed according to the rituals.
