Glacial Hills Elementary School celebrated its annual Fall Festival on October 11th. It was the perfect day for students to learn how to make cider, roast marshmallows, enjoy a hayride, paint and learn about fire safety! “We love this tradition as it gives us time to appreciate and enjoy one of Minnesota’s wonderful seasons. This is outdoor recreation at its finest,” said Jodee Lund. As you can see, the students enjoyed the time as well.

On October 13th the students participated in the Great Lakes Great Apple Crunch! October is National Farm to School Month and many schools through the Great Lakes area participated in the eighth annual event. This day celebrates healthy eating and local food purchasing and is sponsored by the Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems at the University of Wisconsin in Madison.  Glacial Hills Elementary participated in this event by purchasing apples from Country Blossom Farm, LLC. for each student and staff and then at noon on the 13th, everyone crunched their apples. “The apples were delicious!” exclaimed Lund.
