Boys tennis team routs Montevideo and MACCRAY

The Minnewaska Area boys tennis team topped two WCC opponents last week to improve to 5-0 in the conference and 5-2 overall. The Lakers won at Montevideo last Tuesday night, 6-1, and also shut out MACCRAY at home, Friday, 7-0.
The Lakers have possibly their busiest week of the season this week. Minnewaska Area was set to host triangulars, Tuesday (tomorrow) and Thursday, May 4, before taking part in the WCC Meet at Montevideo, Friday, May 5.
Minnewaska 6, Monte 1
The Lakers earned two key three-set wins on the way to a 6-1 victory at Montevideo last Tuesday night. Minnewaska Area earned points at first through three singles with Connor Quelle winning 6-2, 6-3 at first singles, Tenzin Dahl earning a 6-2, 6-0 victory at second singles, and Noah Palmer escaping with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) win at third singles.
Montevideo earned its only point at fourth singles, but the Lakers also swept the three doubles’ matches, including two that went three sets.
Carter LeClair and Drew Bleick improved to 5-1 for the season with a 6-2, 6-1 win at first doubles. In addition, Riley Thorfinnson and Tyler Kohn went overtime to win 6-4, 1-6, 6-4 at second doubles, and Minnewaska earned its final point with a 5-7, 6-1, 6-3 come-from-behind win by Marshall Kopp and Landon Schiffler at third doubles.

The Lakers gave up only seven total games in sweeping MACCRAY, Friday night at home, 7-0. Connor Quelle (6-1 record) led the onslaught with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at first singles, while Tenzin Dahl (5-2) and Noah Palmer (6-1) blanked their opponents at second and third singles, respectively, and Riley Thorfinnson (4-2) made it a clean sweep in singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at fourths singles.
In doubles, Drew Bleick and Carter LeClair improved to 6-1 for the season with a 6-0, 6-1 win at first doubles, while Marshall Kopp and Landon Schiffler stayed perfect at 5-0 for the season with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at second doubles, and Carson Beyer and Easton Palmer picked up their first career varsity wins with a 6-0, 6-1 win at third doubles.
