The Minnewaska Area track and field teams had a busy week with meets at home last Tuesday and at Sauk Centre, Thursday. The Laker girls were second at home and third at SC, while the boys team was fourth at both meets. Winning titles during the two meets were Lauryn Ankeny, Jayda Kolstoe, Elsey Hagen, McKenzie Luetmer, Jayce Kovarik, Maeson Tank and several relays.
“A big thank you to all the workers and volunteers who helped the home meet run smoothly again,” boys head coach Zach Traphagen said. “Both the boys and girls Laker track and field teams had great performances on the track and in the field events today. It’s really fun to see kids start to turn the corner because of consistent hard work. We’re gearing up for the Section 5A True Team meet next week so the focus needs to continue to be strong so we can put our best foot forward.”
This week, the team is set to compete at the section true-team meet, Tuesday (tomorrow) before competing at the Melrose Invitational, Thursday, May 11.
