The Starbuck Depot Museum has much to celebrate this year as it’s the 40th anniversary of the World’s Largest Lefse. Several events are planned to commemorate the event during the Heritage Days celebration set for June 29 through July 2.
Among the events being held at the Depot is a visit and demonstration from Gary Legwold, The Lefse King. Legwold will be making lefse and will have several of his items on display.
Musicians are set to perform old time Scandinavian dance music and old favorite songs that were popular with Scandinavian immigrants. Paul Wilson, Mary Abendroth and Art Bjorngjeld will be playing the fiddle, accordian and pump organ.
A program will be held at 1 p.m. to briefly recognize the accomplishment of the World’s Largest Lefse and to draw for raffle items. A medallion hunt for Heritage Days will also include a medallion to commemorate the World’s Largest Lefse. This year’s medallions were designed by Starbuck native, Kayla Jackson Erickson.
