The honor of being a Starbuck Heritage Days Parade Grand Marshal is a great tribute to the individual, couple or group that was selected.  This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Heritage Days celebration and the selection this year goes to a couple that is well deserving of this recognition.

They were Starbuck High School sweethearts, both from large families.  After one half of this couple completed service to our country in the Marines, their marriage, and a move to the Twin Cities came next.   Later on, they returned to their hometown and began a construction company and several other businesses as well, all while raising a family.

Eventually the better half of this couple became the secretary for the Starbuck High School Principal’s office.

He is also very well known as a “Jack of All Trades” and she is very well known for making excellent lefse and her cooking skills.

They both became involved in the heartbeat of our town by serving in the Starbuck Lions Club, Starbuck Study Club, Starbuck City Council, Starbuck Fire Department, East Zion Church council and the Starbuck Depot.   For many years they have tirelessly participated in community events and activities.

An example of this is on a plaque given to them from the Starbuck Depot in May of 2022…

“In recognition of and for your unwavering dedication to the Starbuck Depot and Museums. You have gone above and beyond in providing leadership, time, talents, monetary donations and enthusiasm toward the preservation of our town treasure.  Thank you for everything you have done.”

Their genuine spirit, humbleness, handy know-how and selfless service has definitely made Starbuck a much better place.  For this reason, the Starbuck Chamber of Commerce announces that the 2023 Heritage Days Parade Grand Marshal is Harvey and Dianne Pederson.
