In light of warmer- than-usual winter temperatures, the Waterama Board of Directors regrets to announce the cancellation of the highly anticipated Waterama Polar Plunge scheduled in conjunction with Winterama on Saturday, Feb. 10.

“The decision has been made with the utmost consideration for the safety and well-being of our valued participants and dedicated spectators,” it was stated last week.

In the interest of maintaining a safe environment for everyone involved, the Waterama Board of Directors has determined that the current ice conditions pose a potential risk that cannot be ignored.

“While we understand the disappointment that this news may bring, the safety of our participants, volunteers, and supporters is our top priority,” according to a statement by the Waterama Board.  “The decision to cancel was not made lightly, but it is the responsible choice given the current weather conditions.”

Despite the cancellation, Waterama officials invite the community to continue supporting Waterama. Those who had planned on participating in the Polar Plunge or if anyone would like to contribute in lieu of the event, donations can still be made. Checks can be mailed to Waterama, P.O. Box 105, Glenwood, MN 563334.

The Waterama Board expressed gratitude to all those who have been looking forward to the Polar Plunge and said the board appreciates the understanding and support of the community during these unprecedented times.
