The Minnewaska Area dance teams competed at the Section 2A Dance Meet, Saturday at NLS High School. The meet had been scheduled for Melrose High School, but was moved to NLS at the last minute.
Section 2A has 13 schools and only the top three in each event qualify to the State Dance Meet, set for Feb. 16-17.
In the Jazz competition, St. Cloud Cathedral placed first with Holdingford earning second and NLS third. In the High Kick division, Holdingford edged St. Cloud Cathedral for first, while NLS placed third again.
The Lakers were fourth in both competitions despite putting together one of their best performances of the season.
“Though our season didn’t end up how we wanted with another trip to the state tournament, this has been one of the most fun seasons I’ve had because of how great these athletes are,” said head coach Tana Ziesmer. “This season, I got to witness just how amazing these young women are; character, class, sportsmanship, leadership, lifting each other up and celebrating the accomplishments even if they were little and day-to-day.
“I couldn’t ask for anything more than what they gave this season and I’m so fortunate to have such great coaches by my side. Thank you to all the parents, dancers and my fellow MLDT coaches that made this season such a great one.”
