U.S. Senators hear from local letter writer

From Jim Thoreen.

Glenwood

(The following is a letter sent to three Senators, Sen. James Lankford, Sen. Kyrsten Sinema and Sen. Chris Murphy, who I believe worked to benefit our country.)

Dear Senators:

Thank you for producing what should have been the proverbial “no brainer” in terms of meeting the needs of our nation’s boarder/immigration crisis.  You and your staff members devoted huge amounts of time, energy and vote-chasing in order to resolve the immigration crisis along the Mexican boarder.  Your fellow Senators who voted against this common-sense legislation cast their vote, and allegiance, to Donald Trump. That man’s hold on most Republican Senators completely dumbfounds me.

Sen. Lakeford offered a statement to news media which explains the bill succinctly and clearly.  “It provides border-wall money, expands deportation flights, increases the number of border officers an creates a faster process for deportation.”  These commonsense solutions stand as answers to critics of the southern border issues and, upon sober reflection, ought to have been unanimously adopted.  It would have been landmark legislation to fix an immense problem.

That members of the GOP simply await “orders” from a presumptive candidate for President galls me no end.  Trump seeks not to solve this national disgrace, rather he simply wants the pain to continue so he can campaign on it.  Disgusting.  Truly u-American. Inhumane.

Sen. Lankford, thank you for stepping out of the GOP “lane” to display your patriotism and commitment to passage of good law.  Thank you Senators Murphy and Sinema for reaching across the aisle to assist your fellow Senator.  My prayer is that Donald Trump’s closest proximity to the While House is his plane heading out to some country where he will feel more at home.
