•Sarah Suchy to take over while Sue Currens is on medical leave

Minnewaska Area Schools recently announced that Sarah Suchy, Director of Teaching, Learning, and Technology, will also assume the role of the Elementary Principal at Minnewaska Elementary School for the upcoming academic year.

This temporary appointment comes as Sue Currens will be on medical leave to focus on her health and, upon returning, will fill the Special Education Coordinator role for the 2024-2025 school year, according to Chip Rankin,  Superintendent of Minnewaska Area Schools.

Suchy brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to educational excellence to this interim role. As Director of Teaching, Learning, and Technology and as a previous principal, Suchy has been instrumental in implementing innovative instructional practices and leveraging technology to enhance student learning district-wide, it was stated.  She has a plethora of knowledge as she’s been an administrator in our district for the past eight years.

In order for this transition to support our entire district, both Nate Meissner, principal at MAHS, and Susan Knutson, principal of WIN, will be backfilling where needed to ensure we continue to move forward with curricular changes and best practices, stated Rankin.

“We are confident that our administrative team will provide strong leadership during Sue Currens’ absence,” said Rankin. “At the elementary school, I have no doubt that Sarah Suchy, with her proven track record of fostering collaboration and advancing educational initiatives, will ensure a seamless transition and continued focus on student success.”
