Two musicians and story tellers from Skallyline, a bluegrass band, took the stage at noon to kick off the Terrace Mill Bluegrass Festival on Saturday.  The day included four bluegrass bands.  The other bands performing were Flatgrass Revival, Chris Silver Band and Root River Jam from Rochester, Minn.  There were a number of crafts and art vendors set up from all over the area.  The idea was to bring back some of the popular events hosted at Terrace Mill each year and the Bluegrass Festival was a starting point, according to Nic Helgaas, president of the Terrace Mill Foundation board of directors; and Shannon Berns, vice president.  The day was also a fundraiser for the Foundation and a beginning to start bringing back some of the events that have been so popular, including the Fiddler’s Contest. Helgaas and Berns said the board will be conducting a membership drive in the fall. “We definitely need more members who want to be a part of the Terrace Mill Foundation so that we can continue to operate the historic area and provide fun activities for visitors and residents,” Berns added.
