We live in a dangerous time
From Char Petersen,
Starbuck
We hear that we live in a dangerous time and that this election is crucial. How so? Spiritually is likely the most important and this concerns a big issue. The Old Testament tells us about Molech worship in Lev.18:21, 20:2-5, 1 Kings 11:7, II Kings 23:10, Jeremiah 32:35, AND what God says about it. Molech was a man-made god way back then and Molech worship was the sacrifice of children as a burnt offering.
We need to add Eccl.1:9 which states: “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”
So true. We just have a different name–ABORTION–but we also call it “reproductive rights.” It sounds better.
Yes, we live in a dangerous time. More than 63 million children have been sacrificed since 1973 in the U.S. and we are still counting. Be careful who you vote for and who you vote against. Christians need to think about this and, as Christians, inform/warn others.
Running as ‘write-in’
From Jaci Wildman,
Villard
I am running and would like voters to consider me as a “write-in” candidate on the ballot.
Due to a mix up in the office, my name was missed. I would like to serve the board again for Villard. Our town needs changes. We’re working on cleaning up yards, tearing down old abandoned homes, getting streets paved and keeping crime down.
I also have a nice group of people for “Neighborhood Watch.” Thank you.
Policy matters…
From Jerry Larson,
Glenwood
The first three words of the U.S. Constitution are “We the people.” Before we vote, we all have an obligation to know the fundamental differences between the two major political parties an their candidates for President. This includes issues like border policy, energy, education, inflation, regulations, crime, spending and taxes. Vote on policy no personality. Joy is not a policy.
Are you one of ‘their’ people?
From Jim Thoreen,
Glenwood
Recently a question was posed to former President Trump, asking if he would restore trust in government by holding federal employees “accountable.” Said the former president: “They’ve got to be held accountable. They’re destroying this country. They’re crooked people. They’re dishonest.”
Hmm. He seems to make no exceptions. So, if your son or daughter went to work for Uncle Sam five years ago…or your brother or sister started work in a federal agency since 2010, they now deserve to be fired, according to Trump.
And the former, and would-be president, goes even further in his “Agenda 47″ in which he declares, On day 1, I will re-issue a 2020 Executive Order restoring the President’s authority to fire rogue bureaucrats; I will shatter the Deep State and restore government that is controlled by the people.” He also promises that “up to 100,000 government positions could be moved out of Washington.”
So, if he is elected president, I presume that a U-Haul, Mayflower, and other means of moving people across America will be busier than fleas at a dog show! It’s been noted that when the Department of Agriculture moved two of its science agencies to Kansas City in 2019, more than half the affected staff would not move. So much for “efficiency and “putting those damn employees in their place.”
But perhaps a re-elected President Trump would listen to would-be Vice President JD Vance who, as a Senate Candidate in 2021 said, I think that what Trump should do, if I was giving him one piece of advice: Fire every single mid-level bureaucrat, every civil servant in the administrative state; replace them with ‘our people’.”
Apparently, good ‘ol JD didn’t define “our people.” Perhaps all of us when we enter the polling place will be asked, “are YOU one of Donald’s and JD’s people?” Oh, and by referring to “every single midlevel bureaucrat” does that mean that married bureaucrats get a free pass?
Well, no one said that this “Shining City on the Hill” would always be led by sane people.
