The Gators improved to 2-0 with a 60-41 win at Albany last Tuesday night.  Leading the way for the Gators with first-place finishes were Becca Femrite in the 200 and 500 freestyle races, Melena Longtin in the 50 and 100 free, Clare Barnstuble in diving, Lyla Stadtherr in the 100 breaststroke, Mesa Kittelson in the 200 individual medley and 100 butterfly, the 200 freestyle relay team of Sydney Gibson, Stadtherr, Longtin and Isabel Guerra, and the 400 freestyle relay team of Gibson, Stadtherr, Longtin and Femrite.

“It was another great meet for the Gators against Albany,” coach Sam Oellien said.  “Albany has a four-lane pool so we were only allowed two entries for JV and two for varsity.

“Overall, I was very happy with all the swims and dives.  It is very exciting to see the Gators at this level so early in the season.  We continue to work hard in practice and hope to see plenty more personal bests, section-qualifying times, mastering new dive(s) and so much more.”

Coming up this week is a meet at UM-Morris, Tuesday, Sept. 10 against Litchfield.

Kittelson’s win in the 100 butterfly was by one-tenth of a second over an Albany swimmer.

“The Gator relay teams saw a lot of great swims,” coach Oellien said.  “It is very nice to see the Gators working so hard and wanting to either get to, or stay in, the ‘A’ relays.

“The girls continue to set new personal bests, meet section-qualifying times and swim as hard as they can.  Overall, I’m very pleased with where our team stands at this point in the season.”
