The Minnewaska Area boys soccer team fell twice last week while also being held scoreless for both games.

The Lakers have scored just five goals in their last seven games combined, including being shutout three times in the last four games.

During last week’s action, the Lakers lost at home to state-ranked St. Cloud Cathedral last Tuesday night, 5-0, and also fell in a close game at Little Falls-LPGE, Thursday, 1-0.

Minnewaska Area is now 0-6 in the Granite Ridge Conference and 2-8 overall heading into this week’s games.

The Lakers were set to host Melrose Area, Tuesday (tomorrow) before playing at Prinsburg CMCS, Thursday, Sept. 26. 

This year’s Minnewaska Area varsity boys soccer roster includes seniors Tenzin Dahl, Jackson Holmes, Morgan Meyer and Riley Thorfinnson; juniors Riley Week, Ryan Greseth, Lane Curry, Lucas Curry and Connor Erickson; sophomores Caden Christensen, Cale Johnsrud, Marshall Kopp, Carter LeClair and Tydan Stewart; and ninth-graders Owen Greene and Soren Jergenson.

St Cloud Cathedral is 5-0 in the conference and 8-0 overall, while Melrose is 4-1 and 5-6, Little Falls-LPGE is 2-3-1 and 3-5-1, Prinsburg CMCS is 2-3-1 and 3-5-1 and the Lakers are 0-6 and 2-8.

•  Against St. Cloud Cathedral, the Lakers had their chances, but couldn’t find the back of the net.

SCC started out slowly, but found its groove by halftime and the Crusaders showed why they are undefeated in the conference and ranked in the top five in state Class A.

The Lakers have given up five goals in two separate games this year, including a 5-3 loss to St. John’s Prep, Sept. 12.

•  The Lakers fell to 0-6 in the conference with a 1-0 loss to Little Falls-LPGE, Thursday, the second 1-0 loss for Minnewaska Area in the last four games.

Through 10 games, the Lakers have given up 29 goals and scored 11.  Lane Curry leads the Lakers with three goals, while Tenzin Dahl and Jackson Holmes both have two.

•  St. Cloud Cathedral, ranked among the top five in state all season, won the conference title last year with a perfect 8-0 record last fall, followed by Little Falls/Long Prairie-Grey Eagle (3-3-2), Minnewaska Area (2-4-2) and Melrose Area and St. John’s Prep (both 2-5-1).
