Area farmers took advantage of the weather in recent weeks and worked on harvesting soy beans and now, corn.  The warm, dry conditions helped farmers advance corn harvest last week through the area and the state. Above, a combine moves through a corn field west of Starbuck.  Over the past couple of weeks, farmers have transformed the landscape as they harvest the season’s crops.  The soybean fields were the first to be harvested, but now many farmers are working to harvest their corn.  According to the USDA, about 15% of the corn has been harvested with moisture at 19% and silage harvest at 92% complete. Minnesota’s soybean harvest is nearly 70% complete, ahead of last year.
