After the Flint, Michigan water supply situation in the last decade, the Clean Water Council recommended that the Clean Water Fund support an assessment for removing lead from our drinking water delivery system. That report was the basis for additional recent funding from the Legislature and the federal government for removal of lead service lines (LSL). Community public water supplies were also required to submit service line inventories to the Minnesota Department of Health by October 16, 2024. A map now inventories the presence of lead service lines statewide. One can enter an address or city to find out whether lead is present. In some cases, it may not be known presently whether there are lead service lines, so updates are likely.
