The MAS Safe & Welcoming Schools Committee along with BeKind members and the H.E.L.P. (Helping Everyone Live in Peace) Council, hosted presentations to students at the Minnewaska Area Intermediate School, WIN Academy and Glacial Hills Elementary by Bryan Skavnak. He is the founder of “Be The Nice Kid.” He is also the author of the #1 Best Selling book, Happy Golf Starts Here, and the driving force behind the “Be The Nice Kid” revolution. As an inspiring speaker and writer, Bryan has helped thousands of kids (and their parents and teachers) become happier, more confident, and leaders through kindness.

Bryan, a golf coach and motivational speaker, was inspired to start this movement after observing the impact that positive encouragement and kindness could have on children both on and off the golf course. By fostering an environment where kindness is valued, he aimed to create a culture where kids could thrive socially and emotionally. The movement gained traction through its simple yet powerful message, reminding people to prioritize being considerate and supportive of others.

Director of Glacial Hills Elementary School, Jodee Lund commented, “We feel so lucky to be part of such an involved and supportive community! Huge thanks to the hosts for inviting Bryan Skavnak, founder of Be The Nice Kid, to speak to all our elementary and middle school students. His powerful messages about kindness, courage, responsibility, and positivity truly resonated with our students. Bryan’s stories were captivating, and he left everyone feeling inspired to take action and be the kind kid!”

The Pope County Opioid Task Force awarded a grant to the Minnewaska Area Schools to support this program opportunity.
