NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND INTENT TO ADOPT
The Pope County Board of Commissioners shall have on its agenda a proposed ordinance and shall conduct a related public hearing on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 9:00 am, or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard, in the Courthouse Third Floor Boardroom on the proposed adoption of Ordinance No. 202405, which would regulate registration and requirements for cannabis businesses and events in Pope County, as well as the Pope County Land Use Controls Ordinance (LUCO) regarding zoning and land use related to cannabis businesses in Pope County. In accordance with recent state legislation, local governments may regulate cannabis businesses and events, and prescribe certain controls on land uses and zoning related to cannabis businesses. The proposed cannabis ordinance, if adopted, would establish and define registration processes for cannabis businesses and set certain requirements and limitations for operation of cannabis businesses and events. The amendment of the Land Use Controls Ordinance, if adopted, would provide land use regulations applicable to cannabis businesses and events, define where such businesses or events are permitted, and what permits and standards apply to those land uses. The draft ordinances may be viewed on the Pope County website at www.popecountymn.gov under News and Announcements. The public may also view the draft ordinances and offer written comments on the ordinance before the date and time of the hearing to the County Administrator’s Office in person or by mail at the Pope County Courthouse, 130 Minnesota Ave. E., Glenwood, MN 56334. The public is also invited to attend and offer oral or written testimony before the Board at the public hearing.
