Escape your winter doldrums with a visit to the world of ruby-throated hummingbirds. Learn about basic hummingbird biology and behaviors, ways to attract and keep them in your yard and hummingbird research done through banding. These unique birds are bound to light up your evening.

Ruby-throated hummingbirds are magnificent little creatures that make a living here in our area and around the state during the summer on nectar and insects. Lori Walewski has been a master hummingbird bander since 2003 and spent over 30 years helping with both peregrine falcon banding on the North Shore of Lake Superior and the MAPS (Monitoring Avian Productivity and Survivorship) international research project headed by the Institute for Bird Populations. Bring your questions or just come enjoy the world of hummingbirds. Lori enjoys sharing the fascination and love of birds (and especially hummingbirds) with all ages and we hope you too will be captivated by these miniature avian flyers.
