Minnewaska Area Schools hosted a 9-12 Band Concert, Monday, March 10 in the high school auditorium.  The concert included selections by the Varsity Band (9th-10th grades) and Concert Band (11th-12th grades), both under the direction of Heidi Polzin.  Both MAHS bands played two songs they were planning on playing for the large group contest. 

However, the Minnewaska Area band was unable to go to the large group contests in Morris last Wednesday due to the Laker girls basketball team playing at the State Tournament opening round against Sauk Centre.  Instead, the school invited clinician Paul Terry, who critiqued the bands and worked with them on several portions of each song.

For some added fun, the concert was an “interactive” concert and those in attendance were encouraged to use QR codes to provide additional feedback to the bands.  In the picture at top, Terry gives some advice to the Concert Band, while in the pictures directly left and below left, he works with the Varsity Band.   More pictures of the concert will appear in next week’s paper on page 4B.
