Howard Marquardt, 85, passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 22, 2024, after a long struggle with cancer. He was the husband of Barbara Nelson Marquardt. They shared 60 years of marriage together living in Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Minnesota and Red Lodge, Mont.

Howard was born on Sept. 26, 1938, to Herbert and Roselyn Schlee Marquardt in Clarkfield. When he was 10 years old the family moved to Glenwood, and Howard was introduced to his life-long passions of skiing and duck hunting. He went on to be on the ski teams at Glenwood High School and the University of Minnesota at Duluth. Howard worked in the ski industry as a manufacturers representative for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; brother-in-law, Warren David Nelson of Aspen, Colo.; niece, Hanna Albertson of Edwards, Colo.; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Roselyn Schlee Marquardt; and his father, Herbert Marquardt.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Red Lodge, Mont., located at the corner of Lower Continental and Route 78. Please join us for pie and ice cream in the gathering room after the service. Interment will be held at a later date in Glenwood.
