Jewell Ofstedal, 96

Jewell Ofstedal, 96, of Glenwood, passed away peacefully at Glenwood Retirement Village.
Jewell was born on Sept. 27, 1928, to Earl and Bertha (Hartely) Lively of Beltrami. She attended high school in Fertile, graduating in 1946. Jewell was a senior in high school when she met Howard Ofstedal, home on leave from Italy during WWII. Jewell and Howard were married in Ada on Dec. 28, 1946. During her married life Jewell lived in Crookston (1946), Fergus Falls (1960), Milbank, S.D. (1973), a lake home on Leech Lake (1987), Fergus Falls (1991); with later year winters in Sun City, Ariz. Jewell spent her final years in Glenwood.
Throughout her life Jewell worked as a bookkeeper, her much beloved lifetime passion. While in Fergus Falls, she worked at the Federal Land Bank and was active in church and community programs. Jewell enjoyed golfing, dancing, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Her adventurous spirit led to travels in Europe, Africa, Egypt, a 2 ½ month road trip to Alaska and many destinations around the U.S.
Jewell was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard Ofstedal; and three sisters, Delores Gullickson (Ken), Margaret Ogaard (Curtis) and Elizabeth Lively (in infancy).
She is survived by her children, Richard Ofstedal (Kathleen) of Annandale, Kathryn Panther of Dumfries, Va., and Jeffrey Ofstedal (Jane) of Vergas; six grandchildren, Luke, Nicki (Ben), Chris, Nicole, Samantha (Mike) and Nathan; and three great-grandchildren, Ella, Daniel and Aurora.
Jewell will be remembered for her warm, fun-loving and generous spirted. Everyone she encountered was treated to her bright smile and welcoming presence. Jewell loved and was deeply loved by her family and her many friends. Her faith in God was the guiding light for her life.
A service for Jewell will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2024, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls, with visitation one-hour prior to the service at the church. Reverend Loren Mellum will officiate. Interment will be at Bethlehem Cemetery, Fergus Falls. Funeral arrangements are by Olson Funeral Home, Fergus Falls.
