Katherine E. Seeger, 93

Katherine “Kay” Edna Seeger, 93, of Minneapolis, died on Oct. 27, 2024, at Chandler Place in St. Anthony. Born in Minneapolis on Nov. 13, 1930, she grew up and attended school in Glenwood until her marriage to Marvin ‘Bud’ Seeger in 1947. In that year they moved to Cohasset where they lived and raised their family. Kay spent 30 years as Director of Housekeeping at the Itasca Nursing Home in Grand Rapids.
Kay and Bud were musicians and loved country music. They were known in the Grand Rapids area as The Twilighters, playing at many local venues, dances and family gatherings. Upon Bud’s passing in 1991, Kay remained in Grand Rapids for many years then built a home on Coon Lake in Wyoming, Minn., in 2001 where she lived for 20 years.
Survivors include sons, Melvin (Aileen) Seeger of Bergland, Mich., and Raymond (Nancy) Seeger of Lauderdale; two brothers, Dave Schroeder of Moreno Valley, Clif., and Jim Schroeder of Glenwood; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, Dorothy and Clarence Schroeder; husband, Marvin “Bud” Seeger; and sister, Mary Sylvester.
Kay adored her series of cats and dogs who were her beloved companions over the years. Memorials may be sent to the Animal Humane Society.
Service and interment to be held in the spring of 2025 in Glenwood.
