Long Beach City Council

By Mike Pfeiffer, Mayor of Long Beach

Good day, Long Beach!  We’re thrilled to share some heartening news that underscores our commitment to community safety.  The City of Long Beach MN has recently enhanced public health and safety measures by installing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at three key locations throughout our city.  These devices are critical in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest and can dramatically increase the chances of survival.

Thanks to the funding derived from the 10% fees from Charitable Gaming, we’ve been able to make this lifesaving technology accessible to everyone.  The locations selected for AED installation are:

•Morning Glory Gardens: A place where many of our community events are held, now even safer.

•Captains Bar & Grill:  Ideally located facing the lake, ensuring that both locals and visitors can benefit from immediate access to the AED in case of emergency.

•Minnewaska Golf Club:  Situated in the parking lot near Golf Course Rd, this AED is available to members and guests during their time on and off the green.

It’s a proven fact that the timely use of an AED can significantly increase the survival rate by up to 70% if deployed within the first few minutes of a cardiac arrest.  This initiative is not just about installing equipment; it’s about weaving a safety net across our beloved community, ensuring that visitors and residents alike are protected in times of critical need.

We encourage everyone to take note of these new AED locations and to familiarize yourselves with their locations—you never know when you might need to step in to save a life.  Remember, these machines are designed to be used by anyone, no prior medical knowledge required.  They provide clear, step-by-step instructions once activated.

Let’s all breathe a little easier knowing that we’re making Long Beach a safer place for everyone.  Your safety is our priority, and with these new additions, we hope to foster a more resilient and prepared community.
