I know what I saw ‘live’ on Jan. 6

Re: Inga Mae

#1: Fox news & honesty. Bwaaa! You had me rolling on the floor with many others I’m sure with that statement. So, you are saying that what I saw LIVE on Jan. 6th was all lies? That Fox is the ONLY honest “news” (I use that sarcastically). Well then my guess is that you believe Donald Trump is the only honest person and all others are liars? Regardless of proof and saying otherwise and proof has been shown-not just “said” like he does. I have never seen “proof” that the election was rigged, stolen, blah, blah, blah, I have heard it SAID, but never shown. I know what I saw on LIVE coverage of Jan 6th. No amount of B.S. that Tucker Carlson or Sean Hannity will make me see what I saw Differently.

#2: If in fact we are a Christian nation why did our fore fathers believe in separation of church and state? Why are religious entities tax exempt? Yet they want to tell me how to livethen PAY TAXES!  Innocent lives. Make up your mind.

For the record: I do not watch CNN. So save that B.S. I also am not college educated. I grew up on church and truth. Quote all the bible verses you want but truth is truth and that will all become clear when our time comes to meet our maker.

May God bless you.

Proposed road work just feels wrong

From Dean E. Peterson,

Pope County Taxpayer/resident

I would like to give my condolences to the Peters’ family and the rest of the residents on South Lake Shore Drive because of the recent decision by the Pope County Commissioners.

After many years of fighting to protect your property values and overall beautification this beautiful piece of Lake Minnewaska is all going to change.  Many beautiful 100 year old trees will be removed and the road now widened.

I feel our highway department does a great job in Pope County as we have great roads in comparison to surrounding counties but this just feels wrong and I hope the county board will reconsider their decision.  Roads are built to help the commerce of our businesses.  This will most definitely hurt the commerce at the resort.  I’ve personally experienced people tell-ing me they chose not to vacation at Peters’ Resort because of the road along the lake for safety reasons.  This change will undoubtedly increase traffic and the speed of traffic.

This is one of, if not the most beautiful stretch of roads in our county. Now that will all change.  It seems it would be a lot less expensive just to do an overlay on the present footprint.  With a reduced speed limit I don’t see any safety issues with leaving in-place the current trees.

It disturbs me that over 4,000 people signed off on the Facebook petition to the commissioners that they did not want the road widened or the beautiful trees removed and the commissioners have ignored these re-quests.  It doesn’t seem right that the people have no say in this action, or at least the commissioners gave no consideration to what the people are saying.

This stretch of road is designated as a Natural Preservation Route.  Let’s leave it that way as intended.

Please consider contacting your county commissioner requesting them to reconsider their actions for the good of our county.
