‘Kindness never decreases by being shared’

From Margaret Pederson,

Founding member of BeKind

Thanks to the Central Square staff for making a great gift to the Pope County community by sharing the “Keep Going Keep Growing Kindness” themed Art in the Square Gallery exhibit!

Through April 28, the Gallery is open Monday – Thursday from 10-4 and Fridays from 10-2.

There are very many contributions from Minnewaska Area Schools and W.I.N. Academy 7-12th grade students, along with elaborate models of knitted, hand-carved, sewn and painted turtles and even one created with a 3D printer. There will also be a 5th BeKind Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, April 28th from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm. Following the reception, Central Square is featuring the Dubois Family Experience. Fun for all ages!

Thank you to all the MAS students who shared their beautiful, fun, unique and creative turtles for the art show! Many have enjoyed your works of art. Congratulations to contest winners, Autumn von Felden and Riley Eischens!

For five years now, the grass roots project BeKind has employed scores of activities to remind us in Pope County to concentrate on regularly practicing kindness or receive it from someone else, so that it becomes the norm of our behavior. “Everybody’s doing it.”

A TIME magazine’s special edition reminds us there is power in kindness to create a better life and better world. Progress comes from doing many small things well. True kindness has a contagious enthusiasm. Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and yet the life of the candle will not be shortened.

Kindness never decreases by being shared.
