If you don’t condemn it, you condone it
From Gordy Wagner, Glenwood
Have we fallen this far as a society? The letter writer of a few weeks ago brought up excellent points concerning the vile, disgusting political signs on 210th Avenue on the outskirts of Glenwood. I’m wondering if my friends who are Republican approve of this sickening display of obscene language? If not, I would hope that they try to have this vulgar display taken down. If you don’t condemn it, you condone it.
We can have disagreements politically but this has crossed the line of decency.
If we had used this type of language as kids, we would have gotten our mouths washed out with soap. And I mean literally. We are better than this in Pope County so, please, let’s act like it.
Volunteers needed at Morning Glory…
From Terry Duhn, Long Beach
Hopefully spring has arrived and soon we will be mowing grass, tending gardens and watching the flowers grow.. This is a call for help in order to see the flowers grow so we have to get them in the ground. Morning Glory Gardens has a very busy schedule for this coming summer with 8 weddings scheduled at this time.
On May 18, we will have to do a clean up of the beds and garden area. We must clean the chapel and gazebo and make the gardens ready for planting which will take place on the 21st of May at 9am. I implore you, if you can in anyway, give a hand. We will start around 4pm on the 18th , but anytime you can find some time would be great as I will be around all day working on something. To me there is no such thing as too early or too late to help.
Thanks to the donation by Mike Larson of Brut Worm Farms in Brooten, we have a yard and a half of worm dirt to add to the beds. This should make for a very colorful garden this year. If you would like to be added to the MGG Volunteers email listing so that you can be kept informed of what is going on as far as volunteer work please contact me or leave me a text. Needless to say the weeds also grow and that is where I give notices and times for pulling weeds from the beds. We generally do this ahead of the weddings.
As always, MGG could use your financial donations. As all of you have noticed, prices have risen since last fall. If you individually or if you are a business or you belong to a civic organization and can make a donation to the Gardens, it would be very much appreciated. You can make those donations to the City of Long Beach P.O. Box 124 Glenwood, MN 56334
This past summer I started giving tours of the Gardens, covering the history of the Gardens that started in 1966 to present day. If your group or Civic Organization would care to spend some time with touring the Garden, feel free to contact me. Last year the Chapel was open most every Sunday so that you may come and spend some time and enjoy the beauty of the area that the good Lord has given us.
If you have any questions or comments or would like to see something added to the garden, please contact me at 320-292-1668. If you can help in any way on cleaning the garden, your help would be appreciated and on the 21st find the beauty in the planting of the beds it would be appreciated as always.
I hope you all have a great summer.
