Affordable housing?
From Michael Moe,
Starbuck
In reference to the article in the July 15 issue of the Pope County Tribune & Times: in my opinion I personally do not think of affordable housing in the amount of $199,000 to $400,000.
Can ‘they’ ever be fair?
From Inga Mae B. Urke,
Starbuck
Recently I attended a wonderful 4-hour rally at the Cornerstone Church in Alexandria and we had terrific speakers, including pastors and State Sen. Torrey Westrom. Throughout the event, we were encouraged to “speak up” about how things are going badly for our country and I feel compelled to do just that! We have never had a worse situation than it is at this time and if things do not change, and soon, it will be a total disaster.
A letter in the Tribune insisted that abortion should be legal although there are so many ways of contraception and I wanted to respond so better late than never.
Are we not supposed to be a Christian nation? Have we not all learned what it states in scriptures about whosoever offends one of these little ones, it were better for him that a millstone be hung about his neck and he be drowned in the depths of the sea? The letter writer brought up Trump’s affairs with women and I certainly never approved of any of his behavior back then but he is a Christian now and we know that he can be forgiven of his sins just like everyone else can! Also, why is it that Democrats never ever bring up Bill Clinton’s terrible carrying on with Monica Lewinsky and other Democrats unjust relationships!
Democrats are constantly lying about Donald Trump and the news media is never kind to him. They have these tremendously wealthy donors who fork out money to Democrats endlessly until now when they have decided Joe Biden is too old to stay in the race. Are they going to support their “do-nothing” VP candidate who has done nothing but laugh and visit the Planned Parenthood bunch!
It should not take one ounce of brains to figure out that our country, which is already dead broke, simply CANNOT continue to keep allowing millions of illegal immigrants into our country. There are many who are convicts, drug peddlers, do sex trafficking, are connected to Isis and have killed our citizens. This simply CANNOT be allowed to continue to happen but I fail to see that Biden intends to put a stop to it yet!
Republicans get accused of not wanting to cooperate with Democrats but it’s totally the other way around! On the state level, they recently put together a horrible plan which they brought to Republicans before midnight and the Republicans did not get a chance to know what was in the bill but Democrats passed it before midnight! That should NEVER happen, but Republicans are helpless when in the minority!
I urge everyone to take the advice of the rally attendees and SPEAK UP about whatever bothers you – make a phone call or write a letter, but please do not remain totally silent when there is so much at stake.
