The 2022 Firearms Safety classes will again be offered for youth and adults who have not taken a firearms safety class. Students  must be at least 11-years-old to take the classes. Those 14 years old and above may take the online class and do the virtual field day, which doesn’t require attending this class. Receiving this safety certificate meets your requirement for obtaining a hunting license in Minnesota and other states.

There is one option for taking the firearms safety class this year in Pope County. The online course: consisting of online course work, an exam/class and a comprehensive field day.

The online course: Start Now! You can complete your online course at any time. Go to the Minnesota DNR webite, education/safety tab and follow the link to HUNTERcourse.com. You must have completed the online course and printed your voucher before attending an exam/class and field day.

In Glenwood, the exam/class will be held on Thursday, May 5, 6-9 p.m. at the Starbuck Community Center and the Field Day on Saturday, May 7, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Glenwood Gun Club.

These classes are offered only once per calendar year in Pope County.
