The Starbuck City Council met for a work session on May 12, followed by a brief special city council meeting.

During the work session, the council discussed possible treatment for Starry Stonewort in the Hobo Park Marina for 2022.  They also reviewed Starbuck’s Emergency Management Plan with Starbuck Chief of Police Mitch Johnsrud.  And last, the council discussed the possibility of a paving project proposed by Harvey Peterson on East Broadway/Pope Street and Teigen Street. With the ending of the work session, the mayor called the special meeting to order.

First on the agenda was the proposed paving project of East Broadway/Pope Street/Teigen Street. Starbuck Mayor Gary Swenson asked the council how they would like to proceed with the potential paving project. The council agreed to ask Harvey Pederson to seek actual signatures on his petition to establish 35% of the residents bordering the project are in favor of the project.  It was also suggested to ask Widseth for a cost estimate.

The council then discussed how to proceed with Starry Stonewort control in the marina. As there is still legal action pending from boat damage in 2019, it was decided to do hand pulling this year.

The last item was the Emergency Management Plan. The council made a few changes and asked Chief Johnsrud to update the manual with the intent to have it approved at the June council meeting.

The council then closed for a brief session regarding labor contracts. Once that session was over the council reconvened and the meeting was adjourned.
