A tow truck just finished pulling a pickup truck from the ditch on Highway 28 last Wednesday morning.  The driver, a 16-year-old juvenile, was not injured.  Snow falling in the area delayed school by two hours and caused roadways to be slick with a number of reports of vehicles in the ditches.

The Minnesota State Highway Patrol responded to an accident about 10 a.m. on Highway 28 at Golf Course Road near Glenwood on Wednesday, Jan. 4.

A 16-year-old juvenile male was driving a Ford F-150 pickup truck westbound on Highway 28 when the vehicle lost control, left the roadway and rolled into the westbound ditch.

About the same time, another vehicle left the road and ended up in the ditch because of icy road conditions.

Snow and heavy winds bombarded the area last Tuesday and Wednesday causing slick roads and solid drifts. School was delayed two hours last Wednesday because of the inclement weather and several area businesses and schools were closed or canceled. Many areas of Minnesota were blessed with over a foot of snow.

The MSP airport reported 14.9 inches of the white blanket which took their snowfall total for this winter to 48.1 inches so far. The 30-year average for the airport for an entire winter is 51 inches.
