The Gladys Brang Foundation of Starbuck is now accepting local applications for grants to be awarded in 2023, it was announced last week.

To obtain an application, contact the Starbuck Chamber of Commerce, Eagle Bank (in Starbuck) or the Starbuck City Office, it was stated.  In addition, request a digital copy by e-mailing brangfoundation@gmail.com. The deadline for submitting an application is May 1, 2023.

The foundation was formed in 1995 by Gladys Ness Brang, who was born and raised in Starbuck. She outlined her wishes in the founding documents and named hometown trustees to administer the funds which she intended to benefit Starbuck and its residents. She wanted to ensure that Starbuck’s culture and economy could continue. Brang’s generous philosophy has benefited hundreds of local organizations through the years. In addition, thousands of dollars have been awarded to local high school seniors under the Dollars for Scholars program.

The Board of Trustees normally meets each spring to review and choose recipients based on the parameters laid out by the founder. To learn more about the story of Gladys Brang and to download a grant application and instructions, go to the Starbuck Chamber of Commerce Website at: www.starbuckmn.org.

Individuals serving on the board of trustees include: Tom Beuckens, John Samuelson, Faith Anderson, Mona Gregersen, Carrie Brecht, Doug Noyes and Zach Lagred. Beuckens remains as the only original board member chosen by Gladys Brang back in 1995.
