Over the last few months there have been changes going on at the Glenwood Public Library. One of the biggest changes is the addition of Sara Nestor as Library Director. Nestor took over the position from Leslie Randall upon her retirement.

“I was born and raised in Glenwood. As a child, I was a regular visitor at the library. I grew to love books and the value of the public library in our town,” said Nestor. “My library journey started 15 years ago, when I worked at the Glenwood Public Library as the Storytime Teacher. From there, I worked in the school system teaching preschool and ECFE, then into the position of Early Childhood Coordinator. I am excited to be back at the Glenwood Public Library!” she exclaimed.

Nestor has continued with the library programs that were in place and has added several new programs including new displays and a community puzzle table. “I’m working to bring back the Friends of the Library group that volunteered to support events and other activities of the library,” she added.

“I see our beautiful library as a place for all ages to enjoy. My goal is to share with others all our library has to offer,” stated Nestor. The annual summer reading program for children will begin on June 29th with some fun performers planned. She is working to make connections to host more events as well. “I’m excited to bring back programs and events at the library to occur on a regular basis.”

Recently the library hosted a guest artist to lead a watercolor painting class. Participants learned basic painting techniques that included brushwork and color mixing to complete a landscape scene from their memories, places they visited or places they’ve always wanted to visit. This class was sponsored by the Glenwood Public Library and Viking Library System, funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Nestor has many ideas for the future of the Glenwood Public Library. “I’m excited to share my love and passion for books with others and get to know and interact with the library patrons. It’s such a vital entity in our community and I look forward to sharing it with others,” mentioned Nestor.
