The Minnewaska Area boys tennis team had a 2-2 week last week, splitting a pair of matches at the Osakis and Alexandria triangulars last week.  At Osakis, the Lakers beat the host team 6-1 and also lost a shortened match to Detroit Lakes due to rain, 4-2, while at Alexandria, the Lakers fell to the host Cardinals in one match, 6-1, but came back to rout Sauk Rapids in the other, 7-0.

Minnewaska Area is 10-5 overall this year and finished 5-1 in the WCC.  NLS won the conference this spring with a 6-0 record after beating the Lakers 5-2.

The Lakers are set to close out the regular-season with two more triangulars this week.  Minnewaska was set to play at the Sartell triangular, Tuesday (tomorrow) before playing at the Fergus Falls triangular, Thursday, May 18.

Going into the final week, seven players have double-digit wins for the Lakers; Noah Palmer (17-1), Carter LeClair (14-4), Drew Bleick (14-4), Marshall Kopp (12-4), Landon Schiffler (12-4), Tenzin Dahl (13-5) and Connor Quelle (11-7).

Osakis triangular

The Lakers split a pair of matches at the Osakis triangular last Tuesday, beating Osakis in one match, 6-1, but losing to Detroit Lakes in the other, 4-2, which was shortened due to rain.  Tenzin Dahl (6-2, 6-0) earned one win at second singles while Noah Palmer (6-0, 6-1) also won at third singles.

Connor Quelle came close to another point at first singles before losing 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 tiebreaker.

•  In the win over Osakis, Tenzin Dahl (6-0, 6-0), Noah Palmer (7-5, 6-4) and Xavier Johnson (6-0, 6-1) game the Lakers three points at second through fourth singles, respectively, and Minnewaska also swept the three doubles’ matches.

Carter LeClair and Drew Bleick won in a third-set tiebreaker at first doubles (7-5, 5-7, 11-9 tiebreaker), Riley Thorfinnson and Tyler Kohn won in straight sets at second doubles (6-3, 6-4) and Marshall Kopp and Landon Schiffler earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory at third doubles.

Alexandria 6, Waska 1

The Lakers fell to Alexandria, Thursday, by a 6-1 score.  Noah Palmer earned Minnewaska’s only point with a hardearned 6-3, 5-7, 10-8 tiebreaker win at third singles. All the other six matches went straight sets although Connor Quelle did lose a tiebreaker at first singles.

•  During the second match against Sauk Rapids, the Lakers won all seven matches in straight sets to win by a 7-0 shutout.

Earning wins were Tenzin Dahl at first singles (6-0, 6-0), Drew Bleick at second singles (6-1, 6-1), Noah Palmer at third singles (6-0, 6-0), Ethan Klick at fourth singles (forfeit), Carter LeClair and Connor Quelle at first doubles (6-1, 6-3), Riley Thorfinnson and Tyler Kohn a second doubles (6-0, 6-2) and Landon Schiffler and Marshall Kopp at third doubles (6-0, 6-0).
