Members of the Glenwood Pickleball Association got together for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new pickleball courts at City Park in Glenwood, Thursday.  The entire court surface at the City Park was resurfaced and four pickleball courts were laid, including the new poles, nets and fencing.  In addition, new basketball court lines were painted on the basketball court, which is adjacent to the four pickleball courts.  About 35 members of the group were on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday afternoon, which also included Glenwood City Commissioner Todd Gylsen (middle) and Kay Blauert, the executive director of the Chamber of Commerce/Welcome Center, who both spoke at the event.  Also saying a few words at the ceremony was the local pickleball association president, Jean Noland (with scissors).  Two days later, members of the pickleball association were on hand at the City Park for Kids Day, Saturday, to help beginners learn the game of pickleball.  Yes, the pickleball courts are now open and the Glenwood Pickleball Association wants to thank the community for its support.  They also announced the beginning of phase two of the project, which will include bleacher seating, benches and shaded areas.  A pickleball tournament is being planned during Waterama weekend.  A flyer, detailing all the information, can be found at the courts.
