The Minnewaska Area trap team is set to compete at the state tournament, Tuesday, June 13 at Alexandria.  There will be 22 team members there competing as a team as well as individually.

In the final conference standings, Kenyon-Wanamingo won the 8-team pool with 9,432 points, followed by Minnewaska (9,250), Cambridge (7,873), Mesabi East (5,983), Mora (5,532), Deer River (5,313), Eastview (4,419) and Maple River (4,398).

“We did have three shooters make the top 100 in state,” co-coach Jennie Stone said.  “That is a big deal!  We have had a few shooters in there, but never more than two in one year.  And, this is out of 11,239 athletes.”

Making the top-100 list were Mason Reichmann (tied for #58 with a season average of 23.9), Kyler Anderson (tied for #73 with a season average of 23.8) and Dylan VanZee (tied for #94 with season average of 23.7).

“We are so proud of those boys, and none of them are graduating this year, so we get them back again next year,” Stone said.  “The 3 will shoot off for the title of State Champion on Friday June 23rd in Prior Lake.”

There were also many Lakers in the top 25 in conference.  Out of 192 shooters, we had the following ranks:  Boys-Mason Reichmann (third), Kyler Anderson (fourth), Dylan VanZee (fifth), August Reichmann (ninth), Levi Schultz (10th), Isaac Hennen (14th) and Jonathan Hagen (21st); and Girls-Makayla Hagen (fifth), Tabbi Durand (eighth) and Molly Hennen (16th).
