The best butter maker in the state is in Pope County

From the Pope County Tribune, Thursday, November 15, 1923.

A car was left on the street near the Ward hotel Monday evening. All of a sudden gravity induced it to move on. Although the car had no driver it did some strange pranks. It first went down to the Anderson store, then it went along the sidewalk, but not finding any light along the street there it decided to cross to the street, which it did, and went into the first building that it found a light which happened to be the Krueger drug store, breaking out one of the plate glass windows, but otherwise not doing any material damage. The car, which belonged to a party from Villard, was not damaged.

From the Glenwood Herald, Thursday, November 15, 1923.

Pope County has good creameries. We often hear of one or the other of the creameries of the county getting top prices because of best quality butter. Now comes A.W. Dalsgaard, butter maker of Lowry, and gets first prize in a butter contest. Mr. Dalsgaard has all kinds of diplomas and documents that he has received at fairs and contests before testifying to his proficiency as a butter maker. The last thing he has done to win the first prize in the butter scoring contest at the thirtieth state convention at St. Paul of Minnesota creamery operators. This makes Mr. Dalsgaard the best butter maker in the state and the people of Pope County are proud.

The Starbuck Auxiliary will meet next Monday, Oct. 22 with Magna Peterson. From the Starbuck Times, Friday, November 16, 1923.

JOKES. Too numerous to mention.

A certain newspaper attempted to correct a typographical error in the following manner: “We wish to apologize for the way we disgraced the beautiful wedding last week. Through an error of the typesetter, we were made to say, ‘the roses were punk.’ What we should have said was, ‘the noses were pink.’ ”

As St. John’s church is at present under restoration, joint services for Immanuel and St. John’s congregation were held at Immanuel church Sunday. The church was filled to its capacity and a very impressive sermon was given by the pastor Rev. Forde.
