A special organizational meeting of the Minnewaska Area School Board was held last week. Chad Barsness and Ted Reichmann will continue their positions as chair and vice chair, respectively. Angie Reichmann will continue as clerk and Amanda Ogdahl will continue as treasurer.

Meeting dates for the year will be on the third Monday of every month unless otherwise noted. The next meeting will be held on January 22 at 7 p.m. in the district office board room. 

Pope County area banks were again designated as the official depositories for the school with an official safekeeping entity of collateral on behalf of the school set as United Bankers Banks. The Pope County Tribune will continue as the official district newspaper for 2024. 

Mileage rates for 2024 will continue to follow the federal government approved mileage rate of $.67 per mile. The ability to use machine-signed checks was approved as well as an approval for Drew Olsonawski and Supt. Chip Rankin to use the Electronic Funds Transfer.

Salaries for board members were set at the same amounts as last year and include $500 per year for the board chair, $150 per year for the clerk and treasurer. All board members receive $50 for regular and special meetings and an additional $50 for meetings that last over four hours.

Administrative personnel were authorized to contact legal counsel to deal with legal issues as necessary and in a timely manner. Supt. Rankin was appointed as the Title I LEA representative.
