•Pending board approval, MAHS alum Jeff Iverson to take over Choir

After a remarkable tenure spanning 10 years with the Glenwood School District and an astounding 33 years with Minnewaska Area Schools, esteemed choir director Gordy Moeller announces his retirement.

Moeller has been a cornerstone of the school’s music department, leaving behind a legacy of musical excellence and mentorship.

Under Moeller’s direction, Minnewaska Area Schools’ choir program has flourished, earning accolades and admiration both locally and beyond. His passion for music and commitment to nurturing young talent have touched the lives of countless students throughout his tenure.

Reflecting on his time at Minnewaska Area Schools, Gordy Moeller shared, “It has been an honor and privilege to serve as choir director at Minnewaska. The students, staff, and community have made this journey incredibly rewarding, and I am grateful for the memories we have shared together.”

With Moeller’s retirement on the horizon, Minnewaska Area Schools has turned to an accomplished alumnus to carry on the tradition of musical excellence. Pending board approval at the next regular board meeting scheduled for March 25, Jeff Iverson, a distinguished graduate of MAS, is set to step into this role.

Jeff Iverson brings with him a wealth of experience and a deep-rooted connection to the Minnewaska community. As an alumnus of MAS, Iverson understands the importance of music education and the profound impact it can have on students’ lives. His passion for music and dedication to fostering talent make him an ideal successor to Gordy Moeller.

“I am thrilled at the opportunity to return to Minnewaska Area Schools,” said Jeff Iverson. “My time as a student here shaped my love for music, and I am eager to pay it forward by inspiring the next generation of singers.”

The transition from Gordy Moeller to Jeff Iverson marks the beginning of a new chapter for Minnewaska Area Schools’ choir program. While Moeller’s retirement marks the end of an era, Iverson’s appointment promises a continuation of the school’s proud musical tradition.
