Welcome to Cumberland, Minnesota! 1972 invites you for a visit with the locals while they produce their local cable access show, ‘The Greater Cumberland County Cooking Show’.  The film’s characters include lifelong friends who must learn to navigate newfound jealousies, competing desires, and not-so-friendly competition. Moorhead, MN filmmaker Janet Brandau wrote, produced, and directed this comedic look at rural Minnesota living and community ties in a time gone by.

This film presentation is free and open to the public and includes a screening of the film followed by a discussion of food, friendship, and community.  The event will be held at Central Square Arts and Cultural Center on April 4 with one screening from 1-2 p.m. and another at 5-6 PM.  

Janet Brandau is a fiscal year 2023 recipient of a Creative Support for Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.  This activity is made possible by the voters of MN through a grant from the MSAB, thanks to a legislative appropriation by the MN State Legislature, and by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
