Fewer  than half (about 41.94 percent) of the registered voters in Pope County showed up at the polls or voted absentee in last Tuesday’s Minnesota Presidential Primary.

Pope County mirrored the statewide results with DFL voters choosing Joseph Biden and Republican voters choosing Donald J. Trump.  Biden garnered 84.93 percent of the votes on the DFL side of the Presidential Primary with 389 total votes.  Donald J. Trump received 77.13 percent of the Republican party votes with 813 total votes.  Nikki Haley received 218 votes in Pope County, giving her 20.68 percent of the votes cast, according to the unofficial Pope County results with 31 of 31 precincts reporting.  

There were 1,054 votes cast on the Republican party ballot and 459 votes cast on the DFL ballot in Pope County.

On the DFL side, there were 20 votes for “uncommitted” and 38 votes for Dean Phillips.

Statewide, voters chose another Biden vs. Trump decision as the two begin their quest for the White House in November’s General Election. In Minnesota, only about 16 percent of registered voters showed up at the polls or voted absentee in the Presidential Primary.
