The Brang Foundation was formed in 1995 by Gladys Ness Brang who was born and raised in Starbuck. She outlined her wishes in the founding documents and named eight hometown trustees to administer the funds to benefit Starbuck and its residents. It was her wish that Starbuck’s unique culture and economy would continue. Brang’s generous philosophy has benefited hundreds of local organizations through the years. In addition, thousands of dollars have been awarded to local high school seniors under the Dollars for Scholars program. The Board of Trustees normally meets each spring to review and choose recipients based on the parameters laid out by the founder.
