Students of differing grade levels will be working on May 1 and May 2.

“We are excited to extend to you an invitation to participate in the upcoming 6th Annual Day of Caring hosted by Minnewaska Area Schools (MAS), it announced in a letter from Supt. Chip Rankin to area residents.  “This event, a cherished tradition within our community, embodies the spirit of service and collaboration that defines our school’s values,”

This year, MAS has structured the event to accommodate different grade levels on separate days:

May 1: Grades 7-12

May 2: Grades K-6

The Day of Caring presents an opportunity for MAS students and staff to join hands and make meaningful contributions to communities within the school district. Projects may include tasks such as washing outside windows on the ground floor (no ladders), yard work like raking and gardening, and other similar outdoor activities. “If you have a project in mind that you would like our volunteers to undertake, we kindly ask you to complete the registration form,” it was stated.   Providing detailed information about your project will assist our volunteers in understanding the requirements and estimated duration.  The registration form can be found on the MAS website at www.minnewaska.k12.mn.us.

Once your registration form is submitted and your project is accepted, a team comprising MAS students and adult volunteers will be dispatched to your site between 9 am and 12 pm on the designated Day of Caring. Please email your completed forms to dayofcaring@isd2149.org.

For any further inquiries or assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Sarah Suchy at (320) 239-4800 ext. 1513 or email Minnewaska Area Schools at dayofcaring@isd2149.org. Rain or shine, our volunteers are committed to working on projects, ensuring that the spirit of caring prevails. In the unlikely event of severe weather, cancellation information will be communicated through local radio stations or our school website: https://www.minnewaska.k12.mn.us/

To ensure your project’s consideration, we request that registration forms be submitted no later than Wednesday, April 24.

“We are eagerly looking forward to this opportunity to give back to our community and express our gratitude for the unwavering support you have shown Minnewaska Area Schools, Rankin said. “Encouraging an ‘attitude of gratitude’ and fostering genuine appreciation are values deeply rooted in our educational mission, and the Day of Caring serves as a tangible manifestation of these principles,” he added.
