The Minnewaska Area track and field teams both won team titles at a home invitational last Monday night.  The meet had been set for last Tuesday, but was pushed up a day due to poor weather in the forecast for Tuesday.

The Laker girls earned eight titles on the way to winning the 8-team title by 66.5 points over runner-up Osakis (174.5-108), while the boys team won seven events to earn the boys title with 191 points, while Osakis was second with 171.

Minnewaska was also set to compete at Pierz, Thursday, but that meet was canceled due to cold and windy weather.

This week, the Lakers have two more meets, beginning with the Barnesville Invitational, Tuesday (tomorrow) and continuing with the Sauk Centre Invitational, Thursday, April 25.

“I believe every running event we had at least one athlete place in the top three, with six first-place finishes on the track and one first place finish in the field events,” coach Traphagen said.  “It’s nice to be able to compete at a high level on our home track in front of our fans. We still have a few areas to improve in, but the boys are getting better each meet. Us coaches are very proud and encouraged with what we’ve seen from this group this year.”
