Dreya Barsness

Dreya Barsness, a junior with the Minnewaska Area volleyball team, is the latest Laker “Athlete of the Week”, selected by the Pope County Tribune.  She is the daughter of Chad and Sheila Barsness.

Dreya is one of the key reasons the Lakers are 6-6 so far this season and have won their last three matches, all in the WCC, to improve to 5-4 in the conference.

“Dreya continues to grow as an athlete and leader on the team,” coach Michele Johnson said.  “She has a determination and desire to be a strong competitor, and when she steps out on the court, her enthusiasm is contagious. 

“I especially love the way she celebrates after a kill or block. It’s energizing for her team.”

During the latest win for the Lakers, a 3-2 win over BOLD, Barsness had 18 kills, 21 digs, 2.5 blocks and was 20-for-22 serving with two aces.  She has 148 kills for the season.
